Hello, I’m Qiyan (‘q’ in Chinese is pronounced as ‘ch’, so the correct pronunciation of my name is ‘chi-yan’). I am a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science Department at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). I belong to Hatswitch Research Group, working with Prof. Nikita Borisov. Before I became a ‘hatswitcher’, I was a member of MONET group, working with Prof. Klara Nahrstedt and Dr. Himanshu Khurana. I got my B.E. from University of Science and Technology of China in Information Security in 2007. I took internships at Qualcomm and NEC-lab in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

My research interests are mainly in network security and privacy, especially in large-scale distributed systems. My current research focuses on anonymous communication systems and censorship circumvention techniques.
